Would strongly recommend two days in Meteora so you can do the hiking tour on the second day morning. The hiking tour at Meteora was absolutely the highlight of my twenty days trip in Greece and Italy. Chris was very professional with great local knowledge and insight! Excellent communication from company. No problems with transportation. Friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating tour guides were excellent. The two day trip gave us time to enjoy the local town and see meteora from the road and trail. Definitely recommend staying at least a night! The rail is down, which required a bus ride instead of the train - but it wasn't a problem and it was totally worth the journey.

Hiring this company was the best thing we could have done. Originally scheduled to take the train from Athens for a two night stay, our trip happened during the 'phenomenon' as the Greek called it, of a flood. The trains were stopped, but George figured out a way to get us to Meteora. He sent a private driver/guide, Evan, who was unbelievable. He was safe, friendly and well-versed. He lives in the area and knew all of the back roads. When we hit a road closure at the half-way point, the company found an ocean-front villa for six of us. We thought we were on an episode of 'Lives of the Rich and Famous"! Evan brought in an authentic Greek meal of soulaki, Greek salad, bread and tzatziki. It was THE best meal of our entire two week trip. The owner of the villa provided some nice wine. The next morning, we were able to drive the rest of the way on various back roads. My friend and I did the sunset tour the first day and the hiking tour the second day. It was truly the highlight of our two week vacation! Out of this world experience that I will never forget. When it was time to go back to Athens, George drove us to Thessaloniki to fly back to Athens so we wouldn't have another long trip. He accompanied us to make sure all went as planned, and had a driver waiting to take us to our Athens hotel upon arrival. He lived up to his word of taking care of us. He is a GOOD man and his employees are GOOD people. I am telling everyone I know about this tour. It is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

I would highly recommend taking the trip with Visit Meteora. We just came back from the 2 day trip from Athens to Meteora. Due to the recent flooding the trains were cancelled and we had the option of taking the company rented tour bus. The comfortable air conditioned bus took about 5 hrs versus 4 hrs by train so it was about the same time wise. The bus stopped halfway for a restroom and snack break. In Kalabaka we transferred to a shuttle bus which dropped us off at the excellent Boutique Plakias Guest House. We had time for a late lunch before our 4 hr sunset tour. The sunset tour was beautiful and the guide was very informative explaining a lot of the local history and Monastery life. We visited one monastery and saw the others from scenic viewpoints. The guide was practically our personal photographer strategically taking shots with amazing backdrops. The next morning we opted for the 1/2 day hike which took us to a different monastery which was even more elaborate and stunning. The guide was super knowledgeable and interesting- he engaged everyone in our group. The 2 day Meteora trip was definitely an amazing trip and was worth it.

Our two day tour to Kalambaka/Meteora was the highlight of our trip to Greece! The whole tour was very well organized (including train and hotel reservations); the sites and history incredible to experience; and the half-day hike was both extensive and beautiful. And the tour guides were amazing, very knowledgeable, and gave their all to ensure everyone had a wonderful time. We highly recommend the two-day stay at the very least, and we will most likely return in the future.
