Discover Meteora in a new, eco-friendly way with the Meteora Midday Electric Buggy Tour, driving a PURE ELECTRIC CFMOTO UFORCE U6 EV. Starting at 13:00, this tour combines Kalampaka town, the old village of Kastraki, the classic monastery road, hidden hermit sites, off-road forest tracks and a short local lunch break in one compact adventure.
1. Meeting & Briefing – Kalampaka Base, 13:00
Check in at the Meteora Off-Road Adventures / Visit Meteora base in Kalampaka, meet your guide, receive your safety equipment, and enjoy a short safety briefing. You’ll learn how to operate your PURE ELECTRIC CFMOTO UFORCE U6 EV and how to use the smart audio guide and infotainment system during the tour.
2. Kalampaka Town & Kastraki Old Village
Begin your route by driving through Kalampaka town and the old village of Kastraki, the two historic settlements at the foot of the Meteora rocks. This scenic introduction offers a first look at local life, traditional houses, narrow village streets and the dramatic rock formations rising above the area.
3. Classic Monastery Road – 6 Active Monasteries
Follow the main asphalt road around the 6 active monasteries of Meteora. Enjoy photo stops at key panoramic viewpoints and admire the monasteries from different angles. During the tour, you will visit inside 2 active monasteries, depending on the daily monastery opening schedule, route conditions and availability. Entrance fees are not included.
4. Badovas Hidden Hermit Caves
Continue towards the hidden hermit caves of Badovas, one of the most atmospheric and spiritual corners of Meteora. Discover where the first hermits and monks once lived inside the rock cavities, long before the large monasteries were built on top of the cliffs.
5. Short Lunch Break – Vlachava or Kastraki Village
Enjoy a short lunch break in either Vlachava village or Kastraki village, depending on the day’s route and schedule. This gives you time to relax, taste local food and enjoy the village atmosphere before continuing the off-road part of the tour. Lunch is not included unless you book the lunch-inclusive option.
6. Vlachava Village – Transition to Off-Road
Drive towards Vlachava village, a natural balcony over the Meteora valley. From here, leave the main road behind and turn onto dirt tracks, entering the quieter off-road side of the Meteora UNESCO Geopark.
7. Ypapanti Monastery – Hidden Monastery by Dirt Road
Follow forest dirt roads to reach the hidden Ypapanti Monastery, a remote monastery built into the rocks and accessible only by dirt road. Surrounded by forest, cliffs and silence, this stop reveals a different side of Meteora, away from the main tourist route. Depending on access and conditions, this stop may include exterior viewing or a short walk in the surrounding area.
8. Oak Forest & Stone Forest Loop – UNESCO Geopark
Complete the off-road circle through oak forests and the surreal “stone forest” rock formations inside the Meteora UNESCO Geopark, before heading back to the base in Kalampaka.
The tour begins from our base in Kalampaka and passes through Kalampaka town and the old village of Kastraki, two authentic settlements built at the foot of the Meteora rocks. As you drive through the area, you’ll enjoy views of traditional houses, village streets and the impressive rock towers that make Meteora one of the most unique landscapes in Greece.
You then continue along the main road that winds around the 6 active monasteries of Meteora. From the comfort of your electric UTV, you’ll enjoy several photo stops at panoramic viewpoints and visit inside 2 active monasteries. The exact monasteries visited are selected according to the daily opening schedule, route conditions and monastery availability. Entrance fees are not included and are paid separately on the spot.
From there, the experience continues to the hidden hermit caves of Badovas, one of the most meaningful places in Meteora’s early monastic history. Here, you’ll see the rock cavities and small hermit sites where the first monks and ascetics lived in isolation, long before the great monasteries were built on top of the cliffs.
A short lunch break is included during the tour in either Vlachava village or Kastraki village, depending on the day’s route and schedule. This gives you time to relax, enjoy local food and experience the atmosphere of a traditional village before continuing the adventure. Lunch is not included unless you book the lunch-inclusive option.
The tour then changes character as you continue towards Vlachava village and leave the asphalt behind. Your guide leads you onto dirt roads and forest tracks inside the Meteora UNESCO Geopark, reaching the hidden Ypapanti Monastery, a remote monastery built into the rocks and accessible only by dirt road. This peaceful location offers a completely different perspective of Meteora, far from the busy monastery road.
The final part of the tour follows an off-road loop through oak forest and the “stone forest”, a landscape of scattered rock formations, quiet trails and panoramic views that only local guides know well. Here, the fully electric vehicle makes all the difference.
Driving a PURE ELECTRIC UTV – CFMOTO UFORCE U6 EV in nature is a completely different feeling from a classic petrol off-road vehicle:
No engine roar: you hear the wind in the trees, the birds and, in some spots, the distant sound of monastery bells.
Less disturbance to wildlife: with much less noise, your presence is gentler on the environment.
No exhaust smell: you can breathe the forest air without fumes.
Smooth, instant power: electric torque gives you a responsive but quiet drive on dirt tracks.
Greener choice: lower local emissions on the trail make this a more sustainable way to explore a UNESCO Geopark.
Each vehicle is also equipped with a smart audio guide and infotainment system, with speakers above the seats. As you drive, the system reveals 20+ points of interest in 10 languages, covering the geology, history, monastic life and legends of Meteora. You’re not just looking at the landscape — you’re understanding it, in your own language, without needing to stare at your phone.
This is a small-group experience with a maximum capacity of 7 people, designed for travelers who want a more personal, flexible and adventurous way to explore Meteora.
The Meteora Midday Electric Buggy Tour is perfect if you want a balanced, eco-friendly experience: Kalampaka town, Kastraki old village, classic monastery views, 2 monastery interior visits, hidden hermit caves, forest trails, a short village lunch break and silent electric off-road driving.
