5. Oak Forest & Stone Forest – Meteora UNESCO Geopark

6. Visit 2 Active Monasteries

Visit 2 of Meteora’s active monasteries, usually Varlaam Monastery and St. Stephen’s Monastery.

If either monastery is closed on the day of your tour, it may be replaced with another open and accessible monastery, ensuring that the itinerary still includes 2 monastery visits.

After completing the monastery visits, enjoy the final panoramic drive through Meteora before returning to the Meteora Off-Road Adventures base in Kalampaka.

The tour begins from our base in Kalampaka and passes through Kalampaka town and the old village of Kastraki, two authentic settlements built at the foot of the Meteora rocks. As you drive through the area, you’ll enjoy views of traditional houses, village streets and the impressive rock towers that make Meteora one of the most unique landscapes in Greece.

You then continue along the main road that winds around the 6 active monasteries of Meteora. From the comfort of your electric UTV, you’ll enjoy several photo stops at panoramic viewpoints and visit inside 2 active monasteries. The exact monasteries visited are selected according to the daily opening schedule, route conditions and monastery availability. Entrance fees are not included and are paid separately on the spot.

From there, the experience continues to the hidden hermit caves of Badovas, one of the most meaningful places in Meteora’s early monastic history. Here, you’ll see the rock cavities and small hermit sites where the first monks and ascetics lived in isolation, long before the great monasteries were built on top of the cliffs.

A short lunch break is included during the tour in either Vlachava village or Kastraki village, depending on the day’s route and schedule. This gives you time to relax, enjoy local food and experience the atmosphere of a traditional village before continuing the adventure. Lunch is not included unless you book the lunch-inclusive option.

The tour then changes character as you continue towards Vlachava village and leave the asphalt behind. Your guide leads you onto dirt roads and forest tracks inside the Meteora UNESCO Geopark, reaching the hidden Ypapanti Monastery, a remote monastery built into the rocks and accessible only by dirt road. This peaceful location offers a completely different perspective of Meteora, far from the busy monastery road.

The final part of the tour follows an off-road loop through oak forest and the “stone forest”, a landscape of scattered rock formations, quiet trails and panoramic views that only local guides know well. Here, the fully electric vehicle makes all the difference.

Enjoy the Silent Drive Through the Forest

Driving a PURE ELECTRIC UTV – CFMOTO UFORCE U6 EV in nature is a completely different feeling from a classic petrol off-road vehicle:

No engine roar: you hear the wind in the trees, the birds and, in some spots, the distant sound of monastery bells.

Less disturbance to wildlife: with much less noise, your presence is gentler on the environment.

No exhaust smell: you can breathe the forest air without fumes.

Smooth, instant power: electric torque gives you a responsive but quiet drive on dirt tracks.

Greener choice: lower local emissions on the trail make this a more sustainable way to explore a UNESCO Geopark.

Each vehicle is also equipped with a smart audio guide and infotainment system, with speakers above the seats. As you drive, the system reveals 20+ points of interest in 10 languages, covering the geology, history, monastic life and legends of Meteora. You’re not just looking at the landscape — you’re understanding it, in your own language, without needing to stare at your phone.

This is a small-group experience with a maximum capacity of 7 people, designed for travelers who want a more personal, flexible and adventurous way to explore Meteora.
